DUE: Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 Week: Aug 29, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week you will need to watch the videos and answer the questions following them. Be sure to read everything. This should be a review from last year, so you will be expected to understand these types of figurative language techniques when you enter, so we can work on analyzing them!
DUE: Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 Week: September 6, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week you will complete homework over the different types of genres present in your reading. You are required to watch the videos, read the information, complete the IRWN pages, and take the quiz.
DUE: Friday, September 9, 2016 Week: September 12, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week you will begin learning about the five elements of a story. You will investigate them through your IRWN and then complete the quiz. This homework will be two separate daily grades.
Due: Thursday, September 15, 2016 Week: September 19, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week your homework will consist of building more pages in your IRWN on Conflict and Point-of-View. We will be using both of these concept for the rest of the year. Please have them done by Thursday!
DUE: September 22, 2016 Week: September 26, 2016This week you need to focus on making sure your Book of Choice Project is completed and turned in on time. Please make sure all the elements of the story are properly conveyed through the game you have chosen to build.
DUE: September 30, 2016 Week: October 2, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week you will learn about text structures, or organizational patterns, and text features that are present in Expository text. You need to watch the videos, complete the IRWN pages and graphic organizers, and then take the end of lesson quiz.
DUE: Friday, October 6, 2016 Week: October, 11, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week you review the information we have covered this nine weeks. Please make sure you have a good understanding of poetry, fiction (with a focus on historical fiction and traditional literature), and expository text. Please come see me if you need to review any of it before the test.
DUE: Friday, October 6, 2016 Week: October 24, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week you complete a lesson on author's purpose and take the quiz to show your understanding. Why is this important? When you understand the author's purpose it shows that you truly do get what you are reading.
DUE: October 27, 2016 ASSIGNMENT: This week you complete a IRWN pages over Conjunctions: Coordinating & Subordinating to show your understanding of them and how they help you people read with more accuracy. Because of this, it is important to use them when you write! Please make sure to update your IRWN's Table of Contents this week if you are behind. Post in the forum at the bottom of the page to show your understanding.
DUE: November 3, 2016 Week: November 1, 2016Week: November 7, 2016ASSIGNMENT: This week, you will be introduced to your GPISD Student Google Account. I am going to show you how to login to your account and access Google Classroom. From there, you will complete some assignments which will briefly show you different ways you can use your GPISD Google Account throughout your education. You are responsible for all assignments that are posted in your Google Class. At the end of the lesson, you will be assigned your Quarter 2 project.
DUE: Friday when you enter class, the assignments should be completed through your Google Classroom GPISD Student Account. Week: November 7, 2016ASSIGNMENT: On Tuesday, you will conference with your teacher over your district essay. You will then be assigned to revise and edit it by focusing on the points discussed. This is your homework!
DUE: You need to turn in your revised essay on Friday OR BEFORE YOU LEAVE forThanksgiving Break. That means, if you plan to begin vacay early, then I wish you nothing but happy travels. However, I would like to have your essay before you leave, so I can regrade it over turkey and mashed potatoes! YUM! #onomatopoeia Week: December 5, 2016We are going to practice reading persuasive text and identifying faulty reasoning within it. Rememember what you learned: facts can be trwisted to fit anyone's point-of-view. Faulty reasoning extends on this by showing you that sometimes the explanation they give sounds good to someone not truly paying attention, but, if you can find the flaw, you can and will win the argument! You need to complete the handout for homework, using the notes posted online to help you.
