A logical fallacy is an error of reasoning. When someone makes an argument based on bad reasoning, they are said to commit a fallacy. Weak, twisted, fallacious thinking keeps us from knowing the truth.
A good argument reaches conclusions based on facts and evidence - that is, on solid reasoning. Faulty reasoning offers a conclusion that is not supported by such data. Faulty reasoning usually is illogical, overly general, or biased. There is also one called circular, which is very common also.
Understanding Faulty Reasoning There are three common types of faulty reasoning, and several types of faulty reasoning within these broad types. Each type passes off a claim as a fact without having the proper evidence or facts to support the claim.
